"With a Mission" and the call to serve others over decades.

Background

As the congregation experienced changes over the 4 decades, EVC was blessed with a wave of young people coming to know Christ. Over the course of our faith journey, it has dawn on us that our blessings are not for our own, that Jesus has called us to be salt and light to the world, and that in extending love to our neighbors we demonstrate our love for the Lord.

That acknowledgement grew into a calling for young people to live a life with a purpose, a life with a mission. That led to the establishment of a ministry in 2012. It is now an Australian non-profit organisation named With A Mission (WAM). We are called to challenge young people to live a life of service towards the communities and those in need.

Let me take you through a quick timeline of EVC’s community engagement through WAM.

"WITH A MISSION" ( WAM) Timeline

Over the last 3 years, we have cared for and supported 3 students from Vietnam to enable them to engage with the communities in Melbourne.

Over the last 9 years, God has enabled us to raise over $100,000 to

• Build 17 houses for poor people

• Provide free medical checkup for over 2,000 people

• Support Vietnamese Christian Restoration Ministry (VCRM) $15,000

• Support Victorian Bushfire appeal over $4,000

• Rebuild central Vietnam after the devastating flood last year over $20,000

Many of you have supported us while we were locked down due to the pandemic, we give thanks to God for the generous hearts in this congregation and many others across Melbourne and Australia.

We have made 4 mission trips together, with young people from all over Australia, from all different denominations. And I’m glad to see familiar faces here tonight.

Being together in these mission trips taught us what it means to put love in action. In mentioning about the mission trip, we have a video and we’d like to share it with you.

Support and Partner with Us

You can pray for us or make a donation. We have a target of $20,000 to reach before the mission trip earlier next year. We still have $5,000 to go to reach our target.

You can put your offering in the trays at the entrance and the exit at the end of the service. You can also make a direct bank transfer. The bank details are on page 2 of the bulletin. All of the offerings today will go toward WAM.

You of course can also join the mission trip next year. Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

We need a lot of support for WAM to bring more positive impacts to the communities around us. You can get involved by the gifts, talents and resources that God has given you abundantly so that together we can reach out and share the good news. Come, get involved and live life with a mission together.
